We provide and encourage preventive health care.

The staff at the Homer Veterinary Clinic believe that preventive health care is essential to the quality and longevity of your pet’s life. We recommend annual physical examinations and wellness laboratory screening (blood/urine/fecal tests) to determine your pet’s overall health and to detect problems early.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are an essential part of your pet’s preventative care health plan. They are necessary to prevent a variety of diseases that may be detrimental or even life-threatening to your companion. We follow current AAHA recommended vaccination guidelines, and tailor them to your pet’s specific needs.

Wellness Screening

We believe that early disease detection is the key to successful treatment and optimum outcome for your pet. Sometimes disease may develop before your pet shows any signs of disease. Blood work monitoring is recommended annually to help us establish a baseline for your pet and ensure that he or she is healthy.

Fecal Screening

Intestinal parasites are a very common problem among our pets. Worms and other parasites are easily contracted and transmitted among pets and may even affect people. Routine fecal screening for parasites is highly recommended as part of your pet’s annual wellness exam, not only to keep your pet healthy, but also to protect you and your family from zoonotic disease.

Behavioral and Nutritional Consultation

Nutrition is a key factor in keeping your pet healthy. We can provide you with recommendations on feeding for overall health and longevity. We also provide consultations on behavior issues that may arise with your pet (e.g. aggression, anxiety, submissive urination, etc.)
